An incredible, Victorian, large gold brooch, with a raised centre section decorated with bright blue enamel, featuring a ruby and pearl-studded star motif, with delicate white enamel and bead work in the surround. The reverse of the brooch houses a glazed locket compartment, originally intended to hold a photo or lock of hair. With a pin and "C" catch fitting.
A truly beautiful and rare antique piece which has survived in wonderful condition.

The brooch measures approximately 40 x 34mm.

CONDITION: In very good antique condition. With some light wear commensurate with age including some abrasions to the pearls, but with no loss to the enamel. The pin and catch function perfectly. The locket back can be removed by hand.
