Incredibly regal and a substantial piece of jewellery, this fantastic 18ct gold ring is topped with a large piece of bright orange carnelian. It bears a seal depicting a shield, in which are the monogrammed initials 'NML'. On top are the symbol of crossed branches and an axe along with the motto reading 'Altera Merces' which translates into Victory or Death or To Conquer or Die! - this is apparently a Scottish motif of the Maclean clan.
The ring shank is contemporary and has been added to the antique seal.
Shank stamped "18ct".
The face of the ring measures approximately 28.5mm x 24.1mm.
The approximate weight is 23.6 grams.
